Can I switch from a student visa to a tourist visa while in China?

gueststeve316 My wife and I are currently in Beijing and have been on student visas for the last year. We were hoping to switch to tourist visas when our student visas expires. Does anyone know if it’s possible to do so without traveling back to the U.S.?
