I'm from Spain but travel a lot to China on business trips and used to hold several plastics of different banks just in case. Recently, I prefer to use only bank card BlackCatCard. It has really good conditions for me as an European. Free setup and full app-based banking. For registration they ask copy of your ID and a selfie. The main currency is the euro. The card can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted so i don't worry about searching for an ATM of particular bank. Fees for withdrawal depend on your residency. I have never experienced any troubles abroad so this card is pretty trustworthy
