Complications, Advice Needed: New passport # doesn't match marriage certificate

guest51122	Hi all, So i got married to my darling Chinese wife in China in December 2019 and am currently living in my native country of Canada while we await our Canadian spousal visa/permanent residency card. We want to apply for a Chinese visa for myself but my wife is worried because i recently got a new passport (old one was damaged, can't even keep old one as a souvenir) and my Chinese marriage certificate has my old # in it. She thinks they wont recognize me as her husband because the #'s are different. I said there is no way for me to maintain the same passport # forever and this sort of thing must happen all the time. Besides, i do have a scan of my old passport too as evidence, so clearly logic should prevail and i shouldn't have a problem. right? Thoughts? Anyone else go through this dilemma?
