I have posted a story and some pictures of the restauration of the guardian warriors at the entrance of the Guangxiao temple in Guangzhou. I would like to know the story about the four warriors at the entrances of temples in China. I was very impressed at the Guangxiao temple.

Does anybody know the story about the warriors or their names?

Well, these imposing warriors guard the four entrances to these holy temples and the reason for this is quite simple : it is to ward off evil spirits .

I know the story and names of these warriors but i don't know how to translate them into english.
maybe I can tell you sometime later.

By the way, I am the student of chinese literature and culture.

Actually, you can find the warriors in all Chinese buddhist temples. Tbey are Heavenly Kings of four directions to ward off evils and protect Buddhism. They usually hold different weapons which stand for their responsibilities.
