Hello.
I'm wondering if I've made a mistake and should change our plans?
Our dates were unavoidable and mean that we are in China over the May public holiday.
We are in Zhangjiajie until 30th April and Chengdu from the 5th May. Between those dates I have booked a (cancellable) hotel about 2km outside Fenghuang town. My thinking being that it's got a pool and we could just relax for the few days over the public holiday.
BUT, I'm now wondering if that is a good plan because if the weather isn't hot, then there is literally nothing within walking distance and we can't even go for a meal without getting a taxi.
Has anyone got any suggestions of what the weather / temperatures might be like OR where we could potentially go as an alternative?

May Day holiday will be a peak tourism season, that's no doubt. The weather in early May is not too hot yet. The restaurants outside the Fenghuang town is not as many as inside, but there are some. You may ask your hotel staff for some recommendations. I actually don't recommend you to stay within the hotel for 5 days. Maybe you can go to explore some relatively less crowded and less touristy scenic spots, like Furong Ancient Town and Red Stone Forest; or add another travel destination before going to Chengdu.
