| It is said that the 15th of the 7th month in Lunar Calendar is the day the gate of the lower world opens, all the ghosts or souls are back home on this only day of the year. Usually the family will prepare rich offerings to their ancestors or late family members. There are also places offerring foods for those lonely ghosts or souls. In Buddhism, the day is - called Ullambana, to release the souls from purgatory. I am feeling good that in this world, at lease there is one day every year for the reunion of the dead and the alive. |

| This day is also celebrated in Japan. I am wondering why people burn things. I witnessed it in Japan and I heard this also happens in China. |

| usually we burn some paper made to resemble money and burned as an offering to the dead. |
