Hi everyone...

What's the best way to deal with banking while living in Kunming? Should I take traveler's checks and open a bank account there? Can I access my American bank account through ATMs in Kunming? Are there any specific banks in the US that you can access through chinese ATMs?

Thanks for your help.

Credit cards will be fine, you do not have to carry traveler's check. Most places, like hotels, markets and restaurants do not accept traveler's check. So, you have to go to the bank to change the traveler's check into cash. So, opening a bank account will be alright.

You can draw money from the ATMs in Kunming, but I think there will be service charges.

I am not sure about your last question. Sorry
