Chinese Opera

I had an idea that an opera would be boring.I was wrong. We enetered the theater
and there were tables waiting for us.I had an expresso, and a snack both were very good.A screen high above the stage presented the English translation
to the stories if you couldn't follow the story lines. With all the action I didn't
need to look at the screen often.A group played percusion instruments that looked like pots and pans, but fitted very well with the action. There was always background music playing.
The villians wore masks of brilliant colors, and the heroine had makeup
which covered her face except for her eyes. But her eyes displayed
every emotion and made us privy to them. She was able to hold her own against attacks by sword bearing soldiers, marshall arts, and acrobats. The acrobatics
and juggling ability of the actors was amazing.Three stories were told and it was
a disappointment to see them end.We had our pictures taken with the
actors before we left.We all had a great time.
