Tips on hotel reservation
By LITTLETREE | 3/29/2006 3:59:23 AM

I received a phone call from a client this afternoon. He is rather angry, telling me that we booked the wrong hotel for him and wait for our free upgrade. Actually, we typed Gloria Inn as Gloria Plaza. But we marked the right price and right address in the email. He insisted on our free upgrade. Oh, my god! I apologized and said it is typo, but it does not work and the client even shouted to me! From the issue, I want to let everyone of you that China has plenty of hotels. These hotels may have minor differences in names. Sometimes it is inevitably to make some typos. What's more, the hotel may also confuse its English room type with Chinese name. For example: "Hao Hua Jian" is Deluxe room for most hotels. But for some one, it maybe translated to be "Superior room" by the hotel. So as a staff at a hotel booking center, I sincerely hope every client could understand our situation and we believe that with your support, we will do better!

My Must-Haves
By MELISSAWONG | 2/7/2006 11:10:46 AM

I read "Extreme Backpacking" and tend to agree on the packing list. For myself, it looks quite similar.

My must-haves are as follows:-
1) Toilet rolls
2) Medication (in case of getting sick)
3) Good walking shoe
4) flip-flops
5) poncho / raincoats
6) torchlight (especially usefull in smaller towns like Songpan)
7) Simple Toiletries - your full facial regime would not work when you are fighting to catch up with sleep)
8) Hat (for sun and cold, depending)
9) Swiss army knife - to cut anything edible or unedible.
10) wetwipes
11) water bottle
12)CAMERA
13) charger
14) batteries
15) adapter
16)and of course some change of clothes
17) & $$$$, plastic
18) additional light weight foldable bag for shopping

Though sound alot but I managed to carry my "harvest" from shopping at the end of my trip.

currency exchange
By TUKU | 12/28/2005 7:40:30 AM

Credit card is handy and changing currency was very convenient at the hotel reception in Peking in February. So we did not bother to exchange currency when leaving for China this time. Had checked that the Independence day falls in October, but that it is celebrated almost a week! So the banks were not open to give daily exchange rate and you could change only 100 USD/EUR per day! You need a copy of your visa and passport and have to queue in a bank every morning. So take enough of copies with you.

When In Xiamen
By SASSYGAL | 12/14/2005 3:46:57 AM

If ur a music lover of some sort try to Venezia for a nightcap or go to TT for a fun dance..

Or a movie in World Trade Center..

Or better yet try being romantic in one of the the nice parks at BaiLuZhou.See the burst of its music foundations swaying to the rhythm of the soundsystem.

Try Club Laguna for an overall spa for uni-genders for a days off or relaxation, fluent english staffs will gladly assist you.

Take bus 528 when ur at the train station area whre the bus station is also situated.
