Moon Hill
By RMOKRISKI | 7/21/2006 7:02:10 AM

Be sure to get out to hike Moon Hill. The views are magnificent, and the women who march up besides you are great examples of capitalism at its finest (waters: at the bottom of the hill = 3 yuan, middle = 10, top = 15).

Bike riding with a guide
By GERALDINE | 7/27/2006 10:09:29 PM

A wonderful day riding through the rice fields and remote villages with Esther our guide. For a very good price Esther, we found her in West Street, took us where ever we wanted and showed us the real life of the village people out of the Yangshuo township. It certainly was a memorable day- should have taken sunscreen though as it was gorgeous weather and the singlet top shape on my back stayed with me for weeks after!! Riding through the villages amongst the karst hills, balancing on narrow tracks between the rice fields, stopping in at a small village for lunch- unbelievably amazing!!

Try some delicious Beer Fish in Yangshuo!
By ELCABRON | 2/20/2005 10:52:35 PM

Try some BEER FISH in Yangshuo, it is supposed to be the Pride of this Region! And yes it is delicious! But the Chinese who accompanied me went to the kitchen not only to choose the right fish but also stayed with the cook to make sure that the chosen fish is really on our plates. I guess they know how things run.
By the way be carefull with the propane gas cookers on the tables. Suddenly the whole crowd got excited and ran out of the restaurant, but I did not understand what they were shouting. Anyway in these moments run with the herd! Later I found out that one propane gas hose ripped of, but they fixed it before something bad could happen and we could go on with the delicious meal.

Biking and Floating around Yangshuo
By ELCABRON | 2/20/2005 11:03:17 PM

Take a bike tour around Yangshuo on your own. Bikes are for rent for 10 Kuai a day. And the surrounding Karst Mountains and villages are worth to be explored on your own!
You can also hire a bamboo raft to float down the Jinbao. It is a small branch of the Li River. You can enjoy the magnificent landscape all on your own with a quiet surrounding.
No Helloooo! shouting for tourists at all.

Yangshuo bicycle tour
By TARZAN | 5/14/2004 5:02:38 AM

If you go to Yangshuo the best way to see the beautiful mountains and the Li river is to take a bicycle tour on one day (you can probably find a good tour guide via Lisa's Hotel, Quan Hua Tang is a very good guide) You can cycle through the mountain area and visit the moon hill. It is absolute worth to climb the 840 steps to the top. You have got an awesome view from above.

The next day you can take a boat trip on the li river. There is a bustrip to a small vilage, you can visit a school there. From there you can take the boat downstream. We stopped at a very small village where very few tourists go. You can still see how people lived there for centuries. Further downstream you can visit a bigger village. You can go back by boat or arrange a bus to travel back to Yangshuo.
