best place to live in China

GUEST64109 I wish to visit as many Chinese cities and major tourist attractions for the next five years. I do not just plan to visit these places but rather to live amongst the locals for at least two months before I move on to the next city. This means that I will be able to live in 6 cities in a year and by the end of my 5 years of travels throughout China, I would have lived in at least 30 cities.

I intend to start from the south of China and for the first year my initial plan is to visit and live in:

1) Shenzhen
2) Nanning
3) Kunming
4) Xiamen
5) Shantou

From there I do not intend to go up to Shanghai/Beijing but would rather travel west to the lesser known destinations, and live in the 2nd-4th tier cities. It will be a bonus if there are important historical sites or tourist attractions that are located within close proximity to these cities.

I would appreciate it very much if readers would kindly reccomend interesting cities for my next four years of travels in China.

Thank you.

GUEST34251 Traffic in Dalian is pretty bad now (2011). There is gridlock every day in the southwest side of the city and downtown is often gridlocked too. There are frequent jams and the busses are crowded beyound belief at rush hour....and just try to find a free taxi at busy times...impossible mission.

GUEST28128 Best place to live in China?
If you didn't consider the need for air . . . Shanghai.
If you need air to live . . . Tibet or Hainan.
