 | ok you can tell that this will be my first trip to china! and so i feel that allows me to ask really stupid questions - such as... what are the loo's like in china, more precisiely is it easy to tell which toilets are for gentleman and which are for ladies?.... Are there pictures, or universal signs/symbols that i should look out for?.... Thanks for any advice! Maz |

| If you won't go to remote areas, don't worry about toilets! There are toilets in department stores, restaurants, attractions,etc. etc. Tip: go to KFC or Mac when you can't find a toilet. You can find one there easily. |

| brilliant! knew this wouldn't be a problem ! had been reading parts of the lonely planet that suggested hole in the floor, walls and a door if your lucky ! - suspect thats for the remotest of regions! Ta for the advice! shall keep an eye out for the golden arches! |

| To answer your question, the toilets have symbols on all of the toilets, and even some have English on them. The good hotels and restaruants have regular toilets where you can sit down, but the others you have to squat. |

| you mean you have problem reading the words and signs of male and female in english or in chinese? as far as toilet conditions is concern, either you exercise control or just learn to get used to it. |
