I think if you join a tourist group,usually,they took you to the "convenient"places,including the transportation,hotel......The most important thing for them is earning more money!

But if you travel yourself or with friends,you can look for the interesting places!Yes,you are right!The native can find it!If you want to visit there,you should make a abundant plan.

it is not a travel agency's fault ,if they propagandize their service is to bring guests to the rural area where you can not find decent restaurants and hotels and fascinating scenery,just an area of wildland growing wild flowers waiting for you ,will you join them ?

Eating the local rural food and staying in the native house are really good nice experience:-)

only it is a beauty spot ,can local man prepare enough food and extra rooms for travellers

even in some beauty spots (I do not refer to those hot spots),the food local villagers provided is not dainty ,if you have to eat them for one week ,I swear you must be seriously homesick .

I believe they did their best to cater for tourists , and the price is cheap , those tourists who chose rural areas to visit is to experience differnent lifestyle and flavor not asking for the superior food and accommodation

Actually,it isn't suit for tourist group.And you will feel uncomfortable in there if you join a group!!!No freedom,or less freedom!
