California's information was so useful to even our local Chinese with quite limited coverage of our own country. So, thanks.

I don't know since when, travelling has been connected with the enjoyment of hotels, amenities, transportations, etc... People focus more and more on things except travelling itself. So, many people give up traveling to the real interesting places simply because the place does not have decent hotels and restaurants, or they have to travel all the way by train or bus there. As a matter of fact, some of the true enjoyment of cultures, peoples, and natural sceneries can be get by the cost of giving up star-rated hotels, decent restaurants and cars with world famous brand that perfect match the travelers social status...

Actually, Califonia's list includes some of the places worthwhile for a visit in a price of more or less giving up something less important in REAL travelling.

GUEST55211 Where in China could one find a city similar to a small American City. Small is defined as a city with a population of 100,000 or less. The city provides the necessary infrastructure for work, entertainment, medical, shopping, etc. Send replies to aol.com|caseylife

Personally, I won't send replies to an email address! The idea of a forum is that all visitors can benefit from the information. However, 100,000 is a small town (not city and is wouldrobably be referred to as a village by many ppl here) and will not have all of then infrastructure mentioned. Definitely not like a US town.

GUEST21131 I have gone to Pingyao once in a winter when it was snowing. All colored in white, a few people in the street, like I have accidentally stepped into an ancient time. Hope I can go there again in summer, really curious about its appearance in summer.
