![]() | Wow~ u have so many quesions. May/June is quite hot in China. Safety... This topic had been discussed for many times and I am really frustrated. Why do many foreign visitors consider China an unsafe country? u can check this: http://community.travelchinaguide.com/forum2.asp?pp=2&i=19153&p=1#top and this: http://community.travelchinaguide.com/forum2.asp?pp=1&i=21232 Trains are good if u have enough time to visit. You can take a train from Beijing to Xi'an then to Shanghai. It's easy and comfortable. Food... No one eat cats at least none of my family members nor friends. Yes, we eat dog, but seldom. If u go to northeast China, for example, go to Korean autonomous county, u may find more people eat dog. And it is said that Cantonese eat cat & dog. I'm not sure about it. Don't worry, u can eat what u want and deny those u don't want. U can enjoy western foods, too. But I suggest u to have a taste on Chinese food. It will surely make u satisfy! enjoy ur stay! |

![]() | I think May and California, have really addressed your questions very well !! I, too, share May’s frustration with the misinformation and stereotyping regarding safety in China. Let me say to you, that as an American, I feel very, very, safe in China, including the big metropolitan cities !!! It is my opinion, that China is one of the most safe places on this Earth, for a traveler/tourist from another country to visit !! You don’t have to worry about being accosted by some ‘nut’, with a gun as maybe you would in some large inner city areas of the USA, or other countries in the world. You will find the people of China to be, very friendly, kind, family oriented, and helpful !!! Again, don’t worry !!! China is a very SAFE and wonderful place to visit. China offers so much to the traveler/tourist and it is so affordable too !! Have a great time !! |

![]() | thanks a lot 4 your quick answer!!!!!! the point about food isn`t chinese food ( we like it very much and we eat it wherever we travel ) the point is that we LOVE cats and we don`t want to see cats waiting to be killled and cooked!!!!!!!!! and about safety.... well the point is that it is a completely different society from mine.... so.... i am anxious to see a lot of new things ( such it was when we went to Thai ) but we wouldn`t like people to trough rocks to us like it happened to us in Egypt only for being different!!! thank you very much!!!!!! maria eugenia |

![]() | Dear Maria, you and your husband will LOVE China, as much as all of us on this TCG, forum do !! Beautiful China is not just a travel destination, it is a life experience !!! :) :) |

![]() | When one lives in a State (California) which is contiguous to Mexico, and with such a strong Hispanic influence on the culture here, one must then have an understanding of Spanish !! The demographics of this State are now approximately +30% Hispanic and +13% Asian, at the 2000 Census. |
