Observation : Weird that Chinese whether from China or other countries, think that Taiwanese are Chinese and feel quite related to them. But the Taiwanese seem to think that they are not Chinese but Taiwanese & are a brand by themselves ?

I have also watched brokeback mountain out of curiosity (about the love story between two men)and also it had so many nominations/awards.

Here's my view:I feel that brokeback mountain has a good story line but the movie is too slow paced plus somemore it is set in the 1960s, which makes me feel bored. Overall, i'm disappointed as i expected more since it has many good reviews plus all the nominations n awards.

Also,at the end of the day, i felt quite sad watching this movie as it is a sad love story with so much sufferings, struggle and a tragic ending (which is not the ending that i hoped for) for the men couple.

Btw, i read from newspapers that Lee Ang was born in China but raised in Taiwan.

IMO everybody is taken for a ride. I think the awards are all an eye-wash. It is to popularise the movie industry between US & Taiwan so that more Taiwan/Chinese directors made their home base there.
