![]() | There were/ are exceptions:-) Manchu, the founder of Qing Dynasty, conquered the majority Han by force, but was conquered in civilization by the latter. |

![]() | In the case of China, things were different. China already had a very advanced culture then. Even trhe Manchus admired Chinese culture and were very willing to accept it. Further there were much more Chinese than Manchus. Had they wanted to impose their culture & language on the Han China, maybe the situation will be very much different today ? In the case of Aussie & NZ, the circustamnces were different from China. The earlier British settlers in these 2 countries were basically convicts during a time when England was facing an economic crisis. These convicts were despatched to these 2 "newly-founded" countries for resettlement & to open up the countries. U can imagine what happened to the poor natives when these convicts arrived there - they went on a rampage and decimated them. They then ruled them and of cos insisted on English as the language + whatever else. Admittedly the English culture/ language were more advanced than the aborigines ? This is yet another sad tale almost similar to that of the American Indians. |
