Has anyone been in Tibet experienced any high altitude sickness ? Ive heard stories about serious consquences of high altitude sickness (worse can be fatal). One of my friends' aunt got a lung condition illness after traveling to Tibet. I'd say I am pretty healthy and lead an active life. What can I do to prevent this from happening to me? Thanks!

Haha, Peacock, you words may scare peope away from Tibet, I guess? The highest attitude I've ever been was 4,700~5,300 meters above the sea level, I could only feel the difference when I ran:-) I ran about 20 meters and got so tired and out of breath:-) Anybody that is physically sound and healthy can visit Tibet, it's no big deal. If you really worry about the mountain sickness, you can take some exercise before you set out and eat lite. Trust me, you will be fine:))

Bring bottled oxygen. This is readily avail at tourist spots with high altitude.

It is also called mountain sickness where the air is thin and you get dizzy from the lack of oxygen. Since you are healthy you should not have a problem. Just take it easy for a day or so until you get use to the air and you should be ok.
