DAISY Points: Join Date: Mar 30, 2004 Status: Offline	Accoding to my friends who has the experience from Kunming to Lijiang, airplane is the best choice, because the road condition is totally out of your expectation, and as MYAUDREYSUE said, it would take you about 8-10 hours in the long distance bus. And I think bump would destory your great imagination about the Kunming and Lijiang tour.

LANGDONIS Points: Join Date: Sep 23, 2004 Status: Offline	recently i have travelled from kunming to jinhong and throught xishuangbanna. from jinhong i went to gengma then to nansa then to ruili today i will go from ruili to dali. roads are atrocious but problems are fixed quickly ie. rockslides and washouts by local workers. the road from kunming to lijiang should be no problem imho.

TOMORROWNEVE... Points: Join Date: Sep 29, 2004 Status: Offline	The road condition is ok. Bumpy somehow. Maybe take 9-10 hours according to weather condition. Railway can be another choice. It takes over a night.

Yes, the road is not so terrible as some said. A little bumpy, and it would be a little long (about 10 hours). And it seems that there is no night bus. The last bus will leave for Lijiang at about 14:00 pm, and you will arrive at Lijiang at almost 23:00pm.

Oct is the tail of Lijiang's rainy season. Generally speaking, if it rains, the rain wouls last about one week. And the temperature difference is very obvious, so you 'd better take enough cloth, and do a full preparation.
