MEMORY CARD FOR MY DIGITAL CAMERA

I wish to buy a memory card for my digital camera. In India a two GB card of chinese make is available for US$ 100/-. since I will be visiting Shenghai & Beijing. would it be advisable to buy it in China

I bought a 1GB memory card for my digital camera last year and it costed about 400 yuan (about USD50). So, if the prices of memory card is set by sizes, $100 for a 2GB card is acceptable. lol

Yes, Rita is correct. $100.00 is a fair price for 2GB !! I have seen a few listed for a couple of dollars less, and I have seen some listed for several dollars more.

As you may know, the price continues to come down on all of these type items, as time goes on; but for now, it is a good/fair price for that amount of memory.

And, Conny is also correct !!!

There is more than one format of memory card,as most camera makes utilize a specific card.
S-D and x-D are two very common formats.

Although, most are priced by the size of the respective memory capacity, and not by type/format.

Sony use special memory stick other than SD memory card , it is a little bit expensive than SD card , but $100 is enough I think :)

The prices were different from different kinds of momery cards!

The most cheapese is CF,SD,but XD for olympus and Fuji were expensive.

California is right about olympus XD cards are expensive. I don't think you will find China cheaper

In my opinion, Canon is the best for digital camera. My 2nd choice is Nikon.

I brought Canon Ixus 55 in october last year for my trip to Jiuzhaigou. I have very happy with the results.
