shanghai airport, am sure that it is idiot proof, but just checking!
after 12 hours on a plane and over 15 hours worth of travelling i
am going to be so disorientaed !

also are there taxis outside the terminal in pudong ? and is it a
good idea to negotiate price before commecing a journey, or just
let the meter run/..,..

so many questions! can't believe i leave tomorrow!

Yes, they are all there, MAZ - the magnetic bullet train & taxis. Just let the taxi's meter runs - cost about rm b150 from Pudong Airport to Puxi - or city centre.
There are also some private transport that are generally safe too. But u need to negotiate the rate and must be less than rmb150, else u take the normal taxi.
No need to take the magnetic rail unless u are in a rush or u wanna experience its speed without feeling it !

Maz, drop me an email (please, you already do have my email) if you'd like me to arrange for my regular cabbie to pick you up at the airport.
I'm getting confused by you... You express that you're interested in meeting up, but yet you don't mention anything about it in the 2 emails so far, and everything else seems to tell me that you're not interested after all. Please clarify, thank you.

Hi MAZPHD,

This is just a thought but why spend the money which is about 150 Yuan on a taxi from the airport when they have an airport bus that takes you downtown for about 25 to 30 Yuan. It is air conditioned in the summer and heated during the winter. It is a nice bus, I have taken it several times. The bus runs until about 8 PM, so if you arrive before 8 you can get downtown cheaper but otherwise you would have to take a taxi. Just a thought.
