We just talked about Jin Yong who is a famous Chinese writer in another thread. He is one of my favorite writers and I'm sure many of us love his words deeply. Wallowing in the virtual Martial Arts World he created for us, I am also amused by his literary and historical stories.

What about your favorite Chinese writer, litterateur, poets, etc? And which masterpiece do you like most??

Yes, many people like one or all of the Four Masterpieces.
However, I don't like the Dream of Red Mansions. I don't know why but I always fall asleep while reading it...

I prefer Liao Zhai Zhi Yi (Strange Stories from a Scholar's Studio)lol

Hi May,

I will most certainly try and find English versions of these writers in my local, well stocked, book store !! It is my dream that someday, I will be able to read and understand the Chinese language as well as you are able to use the English language !!??

I think each of you in the forum/community, who have mastered, and are so conversant with the English language, as well as your native Chinese, are such very intelligent individuals !!!! :) :)

I will let you know if I have success in finding any of these works in my large book stores near my city !!

My favorite Chinese writer is Haiyan who is probably unfamiliar to my foreign fellow members here. He is very good at creating stories about policemen, their love, daillife, work, and so on. I have read almost all of his novels. They are great. :)

To pinetree, I read her words and Mian Mian's. IMO, Annie Bao Bi is better than them.

To Roger,
yes, we know both Chinese and English. But it takes us at least 6 years to learn and practise English!! So that is why we can use it now. For me, an English major, English will be my life-long career no matter I like it or not!
