I do doubt where and when this statistic find. According to my own experience, teacher in China can hardly get 4000 rmb per month. This is obviously not the average salary.

Maybe this statistic happened only in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen?! So this should not be a survey over China. Should be a survey over BIG CITIES of China.

In the original news, Teacher they meant "College teachers":D They should be lecturers at least to get a salary of 4000~5000 per month.

Hi, verb, even lecturers can't get 4000 rmb in average. When I was teaching in a college, lecturers who have more classes/lectures can earn more. But 4000 per month is still a large amount. I think maybe professors can earn as much as this. Of course, this is only the salary. If teachers/lectures/professors go out for part-time jobs, they may gain much more!

That may be right, May. Those statistics must be the results of the analysis/ inquiries taken in big or bigger cities, as you can probably not find those listed fields/ types of work so highly developed in small towns/ minor cities - not much spaces for the developments in small places, i mean, not yet.

While reading this thread, a job came across to my mind. Simultaneous interpretation. It is said that ppl who work as a simultaneous interpreter can earn a lot, maybe 1000~2000 per hour or even higher?? Have you ever know some pp working as a simultaneous interpreter? How do u think about their job?
