After five years of construction, the railway is finally ready to roll. Trains will be available from Lahsa to Beijing, Chengdu - capital of Sichuan Province, and Xining - capital of Qinghai province. It will take more than 47 hours to travel the over four-thousand kilometers from Beijing to Lhasa. Tickets range from 389 to more than 120-hundred. Trains bound for Tibet will depart daily from Beijing, and every other day from Chengdu and Xining. The Qinghai-Tibet railway is the world's highest and longest plateau railroad.
