| Source: CCTV.com 06-27-2006 13:31 Now let me give you an update on the much aniticpated Qinghai-Tibet railway. After five years of construction, the railway is finally ready to roll. Trains will be available from Lahsa to Beijing, Chengdu - capital of Sichuan Province, and Xining - capital of Qinghai province. It will take more than 47 hours to travel the over four-thousand kilometers from Beijing to Lhasa. Tickets range from 389 to more than 120-hundred. Trains bound for Tibet will depart daily from Beijing, and every other day from Chengdu and Xining. The Qinghai-Tibet railway is the world's highest and longest plateau railroad. | The first three trains to Lhasa are from Beijing,Chengdu and Xining. No Shanghai!!! |
