Zhengzhou
Jul 24, 2006 04:08
Hello - I just joined this forum and wanted to raise a query regarding Zhengzhou. I recently moved here for a teaching assignment and would love to hear back from anyone who has (or is) living here in Zhengzhou.

I've not had a chance to see much of the city as yet, and this is my first trip to China, so things are a little overwelming at the moment. I'm struggling to fit in and, while I'm happy to gain the Chinese experience, I'm very keen to understand where I can find other foriegners like myself.

Look forward to hearing some advice soon...,

I'd like suggest you spend a few minutes to warm up with the introduction at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhengzhou
It will give you an overview of Zhengzhou.

Hi 1sttimer

I can't offer you any specific help with Zhengzhou I'm afraid as I don't know the area.

However, I just want to say, don't panic and don't worry.

I was in the same position as you when I came to China on my own last year for the first time... and you're right... it is completely overwhelming. In fact for my whole first week I was convinced I'd made a dreadful mistake and wanted to go home :(

The good news is that it soon passes... and now I don't want to leave! You just need to be patient and give yourself some space and time to settle down... don't expect too much of yourself.

Finding another foreigner in Zhengzhou will help you a lot from the point of view that they will probably understand what you're experiencing and be able to empathise. I do totally!

Good luck with finding some other foreigners in Zhengzhou.

If you have any questions in the meantime you can always post them on TCG, we're a nice bunch and will try to help if we can or you can drop me a PM.

:)

If you're interested in martial art, go to the SongShan and Shaolin Temple.:)
