GUEST13832 I agree with you 100%. I'm a straight shooter also. This place is corrupt beyond belief.

GUEST13832 Thank you for telling the truth. It is exactly as you describe it. Not a doubt. I know.

GUEST39219 Hi everyone: I was a teacher in Harbin (from the U K) and the clubs mentioned such as Blues Bar, QS Disco are from my memory the few spots for disco style nightlife. Yes you can drink to your heart's content and mingle with the locals or Russians. Unless you've got experience in socialing with Russians if you get out-of-order or too drunk they will kick you into shape almost as if they are the disco guards! They are used to seeing E S L teachers from the U K, AUS, CAN, US etc. so you're nothing new there. Just give them their space and realise that they like you are an exaggerated reflection of their culture(vodka talks!).

GUESTGUESTHA... Hey Guestcoffee,
I really respect your opinions and seek advice to you. Please give any comments; good or bad, as I really want to understand life at Harbin. I'll be moving to Harbin Engineering University this september to study english taught course in electrical. Does this degree have good teachers? Can I get people to socialize with as I cannot speak chinese at all? I wont be going out much, just living at campus. I've lived at Abu Dabi, UAE my whole life and the temperature is hot and humid, but Im sure I could adjust there. I've always dreamt of studying at harbin. Your comments did let me down, but it really gave a real picture about ESL teachers there. Anyone is free to leave your comments. Cheers
