Flight is out of the question since the only Shanghai -- Weihai flight (from either airport in Shanghai) flies at 0820 daily, in this season. The flight itself takes 1.5 hours. Bus is also out of the question since the only departures are at 1600, 1645 and 1810. There're no direct trains for Shanghai -- Weihai, nor do I know of any possible routes that you could catch at that late hour. Taxis will NOT drive you that far, it's 1042 km! Not unless you pay an exorbitant sum of money, which you've already indicated that you don't have. Is there some particular reason that you cannot wait till the next morning? There're no direct trains for Weihai -- Ningbo either. I would suggest that you take bus/train from Weihai to Jinan, then change to train.

Ellyse, many thanks for your advice! How far is it from Weihai to Hangzhou and is transport available with bus (how long will it take me) and with train (how long will it take me)? How far apart is Ningbo City and Hangzhou and is bus/train transport available? What am I expected to pay for plane from Shanghai to Wehai and from Wehai to Ningbo City or Hangzhou? This info is urgent, I need to fly out by next week!

There're no direct trains for Weihai -- Hangzhou. Take a bus/train to Jinan and take a Jinan -- Hangzhou train. Jinan -- Hangzhou trains: K101/K104 (0514--2024) 15h00min K258/K255 (0616--2039) 14h23min 1036/1033 (1107--0429) 17h22min K554/K551 (1115--0134) 14h19min K78/K75 (1225--0234) 14h09min 1344/1341 (1708--0936) 16h28min 2584/2581 (1738--1225) 18h47min T177 (1823--0603) 11h40min Or, another method that might be better, take a bus to Yantai and then get on Yantai -- Hangzhou train 2584/2581 (0953--1225, 26h32min). This is a longer route but since the train originates at Yantai you're going to have a higher chance of obtaining a sleeper ticket for the long ride. I see a Hangzhou -- Weihai bus departure, but I can't find any information for the return, so I can't help you on that. Plenty of Hangzhou -- Ningbo trains and buses. Train distance is 165-171 km and takes about 2-2.5 hours, departures from both Hangzhou main and East train stations, fare 13-44 RMB depending on your choice of train and seat. Bus distance is 153 km, departures every 10 mins or so from Hangzhou East long-distance bus station, fare 55 RMB. Full fare for Shanghai -- Weihai flight is 840 RMB, amount of discount available will vary. Add 150 RMB for taxes. No direct flights for Weihai -- Ningbo/Hangzhou.

Thank you very much for the VERY VALUABLE information that you have provided me. Could you please recheck for me for a flight from Weihai to Hangzhou. You say there is no flight, but I am made to understand that Hangzhou has a fairly big size airport. Further, if there is no flight from Weihai to Hangzhou then is there a flight to Ningbo or any near region? How long would this flight take and how much will it cost me. Lastly, what is the distance from Ningbo to Yiwu, and from Yiwu to Shanghai? Thank You Very Much for Your Superb Help I am flying to China by end of next week!

The problem is not with Hangzhou but with Weihai, Weihai isn't a very big city by Chinese aviation standards. If you don't trust me why don't you try to look for the information yourself? Flight information isn't that difficult to find. I would suggest that you try going to Jinan to fly out. Otherwise fly Weihai -- Shanghai. Ningbo -- Yiwu is 248 km by road, 310 km by rail. Yiwu -- Shanghai is 284 km by road, 312/342 km by rail depending on whether the train is going to Shanghai main train station or Shanghai South train station. I would like to remind you that it takes considerably less time and effort to post questions but considerably more to get answers to your questions. And for goodness sakes it's not as if you're paying me to do all this research for you... Wenzhou -- Wuxi is 545 km by road, 778 km by rail.
