| I understand you, but I know professional translators who will not respond unless they have this information in advance...and I strongly understand their concerns. I have sugegsted in a previous thread that people looking for information and help should be more forthcoming with information about themselves. If you are not prepared to provide this information, I would suggest you use 'professional' channels to meet your requirements, contact an agency. Hey, what have you got against Oz folks ???? :( |

| Hello In fact Chinese Engineers can’t speak English. So many skill engineers’ there but this is their draw back. If you use a general interpreter for this work, he/she may translate it in to a general word. Chinese alphabet/letter have multi-meanings so if he/she wrongly translate, you will be in deep problem and with time it will increase like an angle. So it is better to take help from the people who have similar business like you and their interpreter may translate some how right way. |

| This guy come on as a typical ugly American. He thinks that all 3rd world countries will jump to his command and request because he has the money and expertise. If you are so great and rich why not approach a professional agency? This is a travel thread for Christ's sake, not a third world employment agency. |

| Lionpower, Thanks for your input, I had no idea that enginneers are not normally trained in English. Teknomed, You read a lot into a simple request for help. I see no suggestion of command in my text. I am no more American than you. The request remains open, if anyone with some engineering background (not necessarily an engineer)is available please let me know. If this is not an appropriate post for this forum perhaps the moderators can let me know, and remove the thread. |

| Royal. In my view there is nothing wrong with asking in here, but as I said it's a good idea to explain more what you are looking for and confirm your credentials (most females, and that's 90% of the translators, will decline to travel with you unless they are certain of your moptives.) Also, in my experience, most professions, eg computing or pharmaceuticals, in China do not even use international technical English. It is thus very difficult for general translators to acquire the specialist terminology. |

| You might try contacting the Foreign Trade Bureau in the cities you will visit and ask them for local translators. Their role is to facilitate international trade.
