hi, lionpower

I was told that Urdu is very similar to Arabic, is that true? I have worked in Dubai for 1 year, people from indian or Pakistan there usually can speak 3 language, Hindi or Urdu, english and arabic, terrible, isn't it?

I have tried to learn some Arabic 2 years ago, giving up 1 month later.

Yes, Arabic and Urdu alphabet some what similar to see but not to read.
Like Russian some alphabet like to English, not similar to read.

Urdu and Hindi alphabets are not equal or similar to see but some words/ sentence meaning is same.

Any language learning needs perseverance.

The question is not correct. Difficult? For who? For example, if I am a Jewish, the Arabian will be not so difficult for me, because it will be from the same Semitic family. Or if I am a Japanese, the Chinese characters will be not so difficult to write.

Er, yes, Chinese will not be so difficult for some people. One of my British friends have been in China for two years. He can speak influent Chinese.

I don't think Chinese is the most difficult language because I'm Chinese here. LOL. I think you didn't find out many Chinese guys find difficulty to learn English. (We start to learn English from primary school, need 12-16 years for English learning. However, still many Chinese student don't know how to use English).

Want more Chinese practice? Just contact me. I'm glad to make friends with you.

That depends on why you want to learn a foreign language, I think.

I suggest you study Chinese, since it's the origin of Japanese and Korean. Once you know Chinese, you know some Japanese words though the pronunciation may be different.
