There's a lot of baking going on back there, how do you manage it in China? Jabaroo have you built a fair dinkum bush oven perhaps?

Hi Paul,

No bush oven but that would be nice. You can buy a pretty decent sized bench top oven with rotissorie etc. for just under AU$100 smaller ones for less that $30 will do the job too but takes much longer to back a batch of biscuits.

I just baked bread tonight as a trial for Hot Cross Buns. My first yeast bread. I used to bake a lot of 'sour dough' rye in the past so I'm impressed with my success and am looking forward to making a few other things like banana and carrot cake.

Here's the finished product and this is my oven.
It tastes pretty good with vegemite and butter and is s quite soft but I will need to tweak the recipe a little more to get the consistancy that I prefer.

However it's a pretty good first effort if I say so myself.

That looks fantastic Jabaroo. One of the few foods I miss in China is a crusty wholemeal loaf. I will search out an oven when I settle down again.
