Hi everyone,

What's the brand of your digital camera? I am considering buy one at the price of around 2500 RMB. What elements should we consider regarding the quality?

Thanks.

I presume you are talking about a handy DC.

Some considerations are : you may wish your camera to let you shoot close up or details at a very close distance correctly and sharply, as well as a wider scenery or a group of people without falling from an edge or into the water….
The megapixels are not too important

I would recommend one of the Canon ixus or Panasonic lumix models, then, according to your budget, choose the zoom ranges, then the megapixels

Myself I’m into Nikon

haha, we are thinking about the same thing.Canon is my first and last choice. I think both IXUS70 and IXUS850 IS are good choice. The price of the former one is around RMB2500, and maybe you should spend RMB2750-RMB2850 on the later one.

I think all brands are good. What I suggest to look for is size. A small shirt pocket Panasonic that is 5 or 6 megapixels and has a macro and will fit into your pocket is the best. Similar to dmc-fx01. Why do I say that? Easy to travel with and reasonably good pictures. Also Panasonic has rechargeable battery and accepts common scan disk cards. Who wants to drag around a film size camera? Buy an extra 1 gig or higher card and you do not even need to develop pictures until you are home. Also many companies will print your pictures that you submit via the internet and deliver them to your home. Cameras are about 300.00 US.

Thanks all!

Yes, I wish my camera can shoot at mirco distance, a wider scenery and good night scenery. How about Sumsang? Cameras of this brand look very cute.
