You do not need a visa for a 30 day tourist visit and you can apply for a working visa there according to Wikipedia which states ".....application at their local Serviço de Migração office. The procedure varies depending on nationality and residency status. "

You can extend your visa at a local Public Security Bureau Exit & Entry Administration Department. You can also apply for another new visa through exiting mainland (in Hong Kong or Macao) when your existing visa is about to expire.

Please see under the heading Mainland Chinese on http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/hongkong-requirements.htm

The main point is that......

"Citizens of the Chinese mainland holding valid travel documents such as the Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau with the visa annotation of Hong Kong and Macau (commonly known as "two-way exit permit" (双程证) can visit HK for 30 days." I thgink it is the same for Macau though the PRC has imposed some travel restrictions to prevent a growing 'cash leakage' through their casinos.
