| Thank you, May! Our soups sometimes are light like this, but some of them , specially the Southern Tatarian are a little bit "heavy", because people like to put more oil and salt inside. The new one - HORSE MEAT WITH VEGETABLES: |

| Is there any taboo in Tatarian cuisine? I mean, what will you not eat?? |
Apr 4, 2007 09:25 | |
| Yes, I know the meaning of "taboo". It is a word coming from an Oceanian language and we can often see it in the Freudism. About the tatarian food-taboo and what we do not eat. I have to say a lot of things (comparing with Cantonese, for example). As I know a true tatar will never eat: -cat -dog (may be it was popular food loooooong time ago) -rats (they are dish not only in some Chinese but also in some US places!) -pigs (pork) / the Muslims who really obey the Islamic rule about it/. But I heard some tatarts are eating some interesting food like: -Camels /similar to beef, I liked it/. -Frogs legs -Snakes -Turtles -Donkey /very tasty meat, I liked it/. -Turkey, etc. |
