Nowadays, many Chinese youth are crazy about South Korean pop stars’ songs, films and TV shows for entertainment. They wear clothes in South Korean style and copy hairs styles of those pop stars’. Meanwhile, South Korean cuisine has become rather popular in China since the previous hot teleplay Da Changjin (Dae Jang Geum). I’ve found that more and more Korean restaurants opened by Koreans have appeared on the streets and numerous Chinese youth pay visits to those restaurants. I feel worried if all these phenomena indicate that Korean culture is ‘invading’ Chinese culture?

Come on, take it easy. I love Backstreet Boys when I was in high schools too. But what happend now? Nothing. It's just a time for youth. For the restaurants and cultures. I don't think most Chinese like Korean cuisine, at least, none of my friends and relatives. It's just another kind of taste for us to enjoy. If you want me to eat it everyday? No way. Korean culture are mostly influenced by Confucianism. That is why we think it is friendly and familiar. That's is to say, Chinese culture is more or less the origination of Korean culture. So it's natural that we like Korean culture. What's more, I believe culture exchange is good to progressing.

don't worry about it :-) it's not a big deal. you could see it from the other perspective -- that China is invading Korean culture. More than 50% of the kimchi that is served in restaurants in Seoul is made in China.

yes, you are right. China has a large market in film and music. That is why many film makers and music brokers abroad focus their attention on Chinese people's appetite and interest. No doubt, we Chinese are still confident of our own culture. Indeed, with the rapid growth of our economy, Chinese people will also strengthen the infuence of traditonal Chinese culture.

it is obvious that not only the youth interested or even crazy about Korean pop stars. Korean play series are popular among the mass folk. maybe it can not be 'invasion' but it must be a wave swept our whole nation. it is not such a big deal, but it should arouse our meditation.~~~~~~~~~~ ad infinitum

Maybe there is some 'invasion' though it could be more of an exchange. But isn't an 'invasion' from a neighbouring culture which Chinese can partly identify with, better than the KFC/Macdonalds/Desperate Housewives invasion?

Korean people are CRAZY about learning Mandarin! These days, I think they prefer to study Chinese than to study English because of the anti-American sentiment in Korea.
