Howverer, in the Bama County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Yao ethnic minority has its own marriage custom. The woman will marry(娶) her love and after marriage, they will live at her home. In Chinese, we call those men 上门女婿. Their marriage can be divided into floolwing steps: First, when the men and women got 18 years old, they will get to know each other by a series of activities such as playing peg-top, kicking the shuttlecock and singing. Second, after knowing each other, they will invite his love or her love to come to his or her home in order to have a better understanding of the family members, economic status and his or her personalities. During the harvest season or holidays, the woman side will ask his love to help her family to plough the fields or build houses. This is a test for his love. By this means, she will know whether his love is diligent or lazy. If the woman feels that he is good enough, she will buy some cloth to make a pair of cloth shoes and send it to her love. After receieving the gift, the man will buy a pair of bangles,ear rings or a ring and send it to her love. This means that they have established the relationship. However, all of these must be done secretly. Afer these steps, the woman will ask her love to propose a marriage alliance to her parents. If this is permitted, the woman will marry(娶) her love. After getting marriage, her husband will live with her at her home and he wll change his family name and follow her wife's family name. The husband has the same rights with her wife such as property rights and the right to inherit the legacies and he will not be discrininated by other people in the village. This kind of marriage custom is welcomed because of its advantages. First, the man do not need to hold a big feast to treat his and her wife's relatives. Second, his wife do not ask too many gifts and money. In Chinese, we say 彩礼. Her husband just needs to buy some gifts. That is ok. And most of the couples seldom divorce.
