| I had two dormmates from the South of China, one from Wuxi City Jiangsu Province, the other from Shaoxing City Zhejiang Province. Terribly, when they spoke their own dialects, for me, they are like some aliens from another planets. Well, they two can basicallly understand each other. A variety of dialects is an important part of China's diverse culture. |

| Ha Ha, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Dialect is very hard to learn and understand. I got another story about Chinese and English. A group of Tianjin people came to visit US. One day, when they were shopping in a supermarket, a white man came to them and say Ni Hao in typical Tianjin dialect. The Chinese were so surprised that they talked with the white man for a while. Wow, the white man was born in China and lived in Tianjin for over 20 years. Finally, the Chinese asked about the white man's life in US and he said painfully: 英语真是太难学了(English is too hard to learn)!! |
