 | Chen Xiaoxu, performed Dai Yu in the classic TV series Dream of the Red Chamber shot by CCTV in 1987 passed away on May 13th due to the breast cancer. She was born in 1965 in An Shan, Liaoning Province and became famous by acting Dai Yu. In February 2007, she decided to be a nun at Xinglong Nunnery in Changchun to study Buddhism. What a pity. That is she.  |

| I was deeply shocked when I heard this piece of bad news! A Dream of Red Mansion is one of the four ancient Chinese Classics, and of course, it is one of my favorites. Lin Daiyu is my favorite character, her miserable life is pathetic to every readers and audience. As for Chen Xiaoxu, her acting is so brilliant that she made a strong impression on the audience. As the protagonist, Chen fully portrays the inner world of Daiyu, especially the sensitive and delicate feelings of Daiyu. A Dream of Red Mansion is a great tragedy of love. Now, as Chen Xiaoxu passed away, to some extent, we can say it is a double tragedy: a tragedy of Daiyu, and a tragedy of Chen Xiaoxu herself, because they both died very young, Daiyu at the age of 18, while Chen at 42. Very tragic, isn't it? As Daiyu's famous lines state "flowers withered, beauty passed away, while nobody awares it. Nevertheless, both Daiyu and Chen will embed in the deep of my memory for ever and ever!!!! |

| Well, Chen Xiaoxu does make adeep impression on us. At present, a new edition of Dream of Red Chamber will start to shoot and a contest for electing the actors and actresses is being held.
