Hi ... I am Burt in California. My fiance' and I just spent an idyllic month together (she has a B2 visa) and are planning to marry and live here as soon as we can get the visa issues settled.

She is 31 and I am considerably older ... not a problem for either of us, but I'm worried about how the visa people will think. Also we want to marry in the US to avoid scrutiny by her large family in ZhengZhou. Unknown at the moment, but she may be pregnant by the time we start moving paperwork around.

We've known each other since late October 2010 ... we have pictures together ... she is wearing the ring and bracelet I gave her.

She is university educated and wants to work here as my partner in my business. Her English is good, but, of course, it needs improvement.

After we start filing papers for a fiance' visa, will she need to give up her B2 visa and how quickly will the fiance' visa be issued?

GUEST97389 Hello, I am thinking about getting married this summer to a special girl. I recently seen her during Jan 2012 and thinking about marrying her in summer 2012. What would i have to do? And would there be a waiting period after I marry her to bring back into the states for our honeymoon? Thanks

GUEST33127 I also went to China in January, beautiful country, to meet my fiance. We are currently in the process of getting her the K-1 visa so she can come here to marry me. What we did was hire an immigration attorney in China at yahoo.com|visaschina, his name is Roger and is fluent in english. He'll walk you through everything and all in all the process takes 6-8 months before your lady can come here legally. Hope this helps, good luck!

You may apply for a visa and get married with her in China. Then you can figure out a way to bring her to the USA as your wife.

While no two cases are alike, in either case (K-1 or marry in China) the process will take 8 months or more.

The more solid the relationship appears to be, the faster and with less complications the process will be.

GUEST4224 dowry? You needn't worry about it. It is their parents' business. Did she mention about bride price (Cai Li in Chinese)? If so, you need to take care of it carefully.

Before getting married, the boy's family needs to pay a certain amount of money to the girl's family. This is called Bride Price (Cai Li). How much should you pay? It's hard to say. In some areas, the parents ask for a small amount of money. In some areas, they ask for more.
