when you reach to guang zhou,
then you can book train ticket from train station
or some agent shop or hotels also can book for you.
the ticket period of validity is 7 days.
so dont worry about it.

Hi Ellyse!

My friend and I are trying to figure out how to book a ferry from {Guangzhou,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/guangzhou.htm} to {Haikou,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hainan/haikou/}. We will be traveling during Spring Festival so we know there are going to be TONS of people traveling at this time as well. Is there any way to book beds for the ferry ahead of time?

You can try some tour operators to book the tickets for you. As far as I know, the ferry leaves at 16:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. HHere is the Tel(I got it from the internet):

Actually, you can take train from Guangzhou to Hainan. Take K407 to Haikou or {Sanya,http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/hainan/sanya/}. The train is much faster than ferry.
