 | Last night, I watched the TV and an American on show who can speak fluent Chinese said that he is a 妻管严. Do you know what is a 妻管严? *_^ |

| Babel Fish Translator (chinese (trad) to english) translates 妻管严 as 'the wife manages' so maybe it means under the thumb of his wife or "hen-pecked" |

| Babel Fish Translator is quite good. Yes, 妻管严 means hen-pecked!! In China, most men will be angry or annoy if you say he is a 妻管严 |

| The way I have heard it used is as meaning the man is faithful/respectful to his wife - a play on the chinese words and sounds for 'pa tai tai' (though the exact translation may be closer to in fear of wife, or hen-pecked). The similarity of sounds is probably closer for the european expression of the letters PTT than the english. |
