Dongguan--worth visiting?

My roommate here in the USA has a relative teaching english in a city called Dongguan, is that a good place to visit?

If you want to see your roommates relative, you could drop in while you are in the area. there is always something worth seeing. It's not far from Guangzhou and there is plenty to see in the area. Depends what your interests are and how much time you have.

Personally it wasn't very interesting unless you're keen on shopping for clothes. Humen (part of Dongguan) would be nice if you're shopping for clothes, or interested in the Opium Wars.
