That's very good of you to ask this question BBQQ. So, why don't I turn the tables and ask you "how much do you know about Chinese legends?" I only know that the 2 Chinese Movies that I have seen (Curse of the Yellow Chrysanthemum and Boy and his Dragon) were both very entertaining. I have toured many historic places in China and seen many great Chinese exhibitions (Chinese people like to put on a Big Show), but have yet to locate any written history about Chinese legends except on the web and through web bookstores. Not having a Chinese credit card and not willing to use my U.S. credit card for ANYTHING (other than emergencies) makes it completely impossible for me to read about Chinese legends. So, yes, I would like to know more about Chinese legends, but integrating into this culture, and learning the Chinese language is my primary interest. Now that I am teaching at a college and speaking Chinese more frequently, I am hoping that this possibility will blossom. __WINDENERGY__

and, MAY001, Thanks for sharing the english version of the story of Mulan. Mulan says to the Son of Heaven, "Mulan has no use for a minister's post. I wish to ride a swift mount To take me back to my home." This is why the Disney version of Mulan is so good for children and adults alike...it teaches people about following their feelings and trusting their hearts. If any reader would like to see a good American legend, I suggest the Dreamworks film, "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron". It's animated and takes place during the western expansion into Native American territory in the west. __WINDENERGY__

I'll have a look on the movie you recommended, thanks!! Now, let's come back to the Chinese legends. Do you know who created the world according to Chinese legends? Who made human being and other creatures? Who helped ancient people alive?

I just read MAY001's thread about Pan Gu (who created the world). According to this myth, Pan Gu's fur had fleas, which, after his passing, were carried off by the wind and became human beings. He had help creating the world by the four most prominent beasts, namely the Turtle, the Qilin, the Phoenix, and the Dragon. According to Chinese legends, I don't know the answer to your thrid question. I'm guessing it might be the Crane and the Turtle. Am I right? __WINDENERGY__
