Dodger,

I know you are very proud of your British roots, no offense intended.
Just a question.

(Caste system)
Was this a system established by the British as colonizers?

Don’t know much about it.

JC,
No offence taken.
The Caste system in India was in place long before the British arrived.
I think the lowest Cast is that of “The Untouchables” but I am no expert..
The system does seem to be colour code though, lightest at the top and then getting darker.

Dodger,
I read a lot more about it, sorry for the poorly worded question,
Yes, you are right and knowledgeable about it.
The article I read before refers to this, as Britain made no effort to
change it (Caste system) on colonial times.
Any way it is history, I most admit it, I have a very limited knowledge of world history.
Again, I present you with an apology.

JC,
Absolutely no need of an apology.
I enjoy exchanging ideas on this forum with thinking people such as yourself.
But in reference to the cast system in India, it was recognized as an aberration by the British but they also understood that it underpinned the social structure that held India together at the time.
Pragmatism at it s finest perhaps.

GUEST24215 1 st world, 2nd world & 3rd world ? These are degrading terms used by the more developed countries to differentiate and stamp their superiority. Why do you want to use it yourself ? Do you feel very proud about such terms being used on you and your country ? What a sorry state.
Some caucasians even object to be termed "white people". Yet.....
