I'm not really a fan of pumpkin so I don't eat it, maybe one of these days I will give it another try. Alan.

I am with you Alan, not so keen on pumpkin but did like pumkin crisps when they were around. As for us westerners liking Halloween, I think you will find it is another one of those American habits that crossed the atlantic. Ask anyone in England what Halloween is and why they celebrate it I am sure you will find 99% will not be able to answer the question.

I enjoy pumpkin pie at holiday meals...but pumpkins are too big for me to eat by myself, so I usually get smaller types of squash. Butternut squash is a favorite for me. If I could get pumpkins that size I would eat pumpkin because I like the flavor just a little bit better. I just cut the butternut squash in half from top to bottom; spread butter on the flesh of the squash and a little butter in the seed hole; and then I bake it until tender. I believe DaveC is correct; halloween is not really an important holiday. Here in the states it is an event for children, but these days young and old alike dress up in scary costumes.

Well, I like millet congee with pumpkin. It tastes good. BTW, those who have night blindness should eat pumpkin. It is said that pumpkin is good for your eyes.

Dave and Griz are right halloween is more for the children, when I was a kid I didn't even know what trick or treat was, it has only the last 20 years or so children have started doing it here. I have only recently started to like butternut squash so maybe I will get to like pumpkin sometime. Alan.
