To marry a dog?

It is reported that an Indian has got married with a female stray dog to atone for his crimes. He told the media that he once beat two dogs to death with stones about 15 years ago and hung them over the tree. Since then, she has been suffering sickness for a long time.

He must be so spiritual to do that.
But i think he could make it up to the dog in other ways better than marrying it. Because being a human being's wife, there are duties, the dog may not be happy about that.

In the West, when someone says "he married a dog" it has a completely different connotation than this!

But this one "takes the cake", so to speak.
The wedding cake that is. :)

Alan, the dog just need to nod his head or sway his tail when the clergy asks, hehe. Seriously, I agree with Loveisverb. The man should find other ways to make up his crimes, not marrying a dog. BTW, I like your username----Love is Verb. May I know the reason why you choose this as your username? Is there any special meaning?

Canadaguy, what is the connotation of 'he married a dog"? I sense that it might have 'pleasant meaning'. But I want to know what it really means.

Miranda, Canadaguy's right it would mean something totally different here in the West and it wouldn't be nice, this term is to describe a woman who is not very good looking or sleeps with many men, I think this is the cleanest way I can explain this.

This is a sick man him self, remember that he
committed a heinous crimes of cruelty against
animals, on his on admission.
There are sick people in California wanting to marry a
goat, a horse, or any other animal.
I think it is evil and against nature, marriage was
establish as a corner stone of human civilization,
and it must be a man and a woman, any thing else is
the by-product of a sick mind in a sick society.
Therefore, now a female dog as a wife it is ok.
Think about it.
Human depravation glorified by a hidden message of love.
