According to the news, about three thousand people attended a director general's mother's funeral. The director general held a grand feast of about 300 tables to treat those people. Can you believe it? Did he have so much relatives? Of course not. They were his underlings, friends, neighbours and ordinary people. It reminds me of another piece of news. A director general of a local tax bureau held a grand wedding ceremony for his daughter and almost all his underlings attended it. The most ridiculous was that no one was in office that day.

What if he were not director general? Would there be three thousand people attend his mother's funeral? Of course not. Why were those ordinary people afraid this director general?

What if he were not director general? If he wasn't, there wouldn't be so many people that attend his mother's funeral. Those people do not want to offend this director general since he has power in his hands. This is really ridiculous. But it is true in China.

I believe positions are a source of power in China. Attending the funeral of the mother of your boss will bring your favors. Attending the funeral of the mother of your big shot neighbor might mean a job for your son or a prospective husband for your daughter. ^_^"

Exactly. If all other people attend the funeral and only you didn't, what does your boss or leader think about you? I guess that you won't have good days in the future. The wisest way is to follow what others do in this situation.
