Why is Tae kwon do so popular in China?

"Can my daughter learn Tae kwon do, instructor? She is only two years old." Mr Zhang consulted with an instructor in Changchun City. Is it possible to let a two-year old girl to learn Tae Kwon do? Mr Zhang told the newspaper that he wanted her girl to have a good physique. To learn Tae kwon do can help her.

At present, Tae kwon do is very popular in China. More and more students and white collars are fond of it. I really can't understand why they choose to learn Tae Kwon do. Why not learn Kungfu?

What do you think of Tae Kwon do? Compared with Kungfu, which is your favourite?

To let a two-year old girl learn Tae kwon? Really surprising. In recent years, Korean movies, stars and fashion are very popular in China. I guess that Tae kwon is no exception. Well, I still prefer Kungfu to Tae kwon because I am a Chinese, haha.

Tae Kwon Do is being marketed. The Koreans are more advanced in business techniques.

Good point, Paul. But many people in the world are learning Kungfu. Does it mean that Chinese people are also advanced in business techniques? Forgive me, just kidding. But I am curious that why so many foreigners are interested in Chinese Kungfu.

GUEST91103 It may be because there is a competitive component to tae kwon do. I don't think theres full contact kungfu competitions, unless the competitors are very experienced, but people of all levels in tae kwon do can compete. I compete in sparring tournaments and I've only been doing tae kwon do for about 2 years, whereas if I learned kungfu...I'm not sure if I would have that opportunity.

GUEST91103, Kungfu is not competitive. People practise Kungfu just for self-cultivation---being healthier and stronger. Did you watch Fist of Legend? It is a movie about Kungfu.
