Ha Ha, thanks JIMMYB, I will be busy for a week studying all those :-) :-).

I like缘木求鱼 the one about climbing trees to catch fish, I have heard it a few times before, ‘Hoping to master Chinese without making an effort is like climbing a tree to catch fish’.

Not quite sure how climbing up trees to catch fish relates to缘分 though :-) :-).

GUEST18278 This is a very good explanation about "yuan fen". I came from Taipei and am working in Shanghai. I knew online friends by yuan fen. I do believe in yuan fen. There are so many people in the world, and why we know each other, it's yuan fen.

Jimmy mentioned 'pre-ordained relationship' as a possible mening. How many of these are we allowed Jimmy? Otherwise which one of my relationships was pre-ordained.... or do I have that pleasure to come? I hope against the odds it is the last option!

GUESTALTHEA I was looking for the meaning of yuan fen when I found this thread. I'm not even Chinese, but the concept of yuan fen brings a smile to my face. It's complex but there's just something really wonderful about it. ;) I'm glad the posts here are very informative! Thanks!
