![]() | Note: Prince BMW---the one who owns a BMW. Usually, he is very rich. Prince Charming---those who once read the fairytale understand who is Prince Charming. Story: A man who has good profession and salary went to a matrimonial agency to seek his wife to be. The staff introduced five girls to him. When asked about the requirements for marriage, all of them said that the house is the basic thing. Without it, they wouldn't consider marriage. Having a house was not enough. Better have a BMW. After hearing their requirements, that guy said:" I have neither a house nor a car. But I will have my house and car one day. Then I won't marry any of you. What is happiness? The husband and the wife work together to earn their house and car together. This is happiness." Four of the girls retorted:" How can you raise your wife and child? You have nothing and want to marry. This is absurd." The last girl was impressed by this guy and decided to date him. One year later, that guy didn't have his house and car yet because he couldn't afford it. How about the girl? The girl dumped that guy and "married" that guy's uncle who had his house, car and a wife. His uncle promised the girl that he would divorce his wife as soon as possible. This is the reality in Beijing and the story is true. People in Beijing are very realistic. After reading this story, do you have anything to say? Prince Charming and Prince BMW, whom will you choose? |

![]() | Danny, it is an article from Xinhua News. But I can't ensure it is true because there are too many fake news. What I am sure is that house is a must for many girls. |

![]() | That is a terrible outcome for prince charming. It is probably good that she left him, what guy would want a girl who is motivated by money over the guys personality. This house topic pops up frequently in this forum. I am Chinese but lived in the US all my life, why is a house so important when it comes to marriage BBQQ? It is quite obvious that starting a new life with a guy who has a house be more comfortable than a guy without a house but to me it sounds like these Chinese girls would rather marry a guy who is probably double her age and/or personality doesn't match to get ahead. If a girl asked me if I had a house before going on a date with me, I would definitely take off as far from her as possible. Prince charming sounds like a great guy though. If my sister told me that she met a guy who wants to marry her and work with her to buy a home, car and a life together than I wouldn't give him as hard of time. And plus, isn't there a saying in Chinese that the richer the man is, the more wives he has? |

![]() | Danny, I don't know if all girls regard houses as a must for them. To me, if my boyfriend has his own house, that is good. If not, it doesn't matter. In second situation, I will work hard together with him to earn our own house and car. I am going to marry a man not a house. Some girls are money oriented, but not all. But we have to admit that there are too many girls who are material. No wonder that guy in the story feels frustrated. "Why is a house so important when it comes to marriage BBQQ?" Danny, a house means stability and security. Without a house, you are like duckweed that floats on the surface of the water from place to place. Perhaps, Chinese people are too stubborn to change their concept. Renting a house is a good idea but people seldom accept this. To be honest, I am stubborn too. I would earn my house to spend my whole life there instead of renting one. |

![]() | “Prince Charming: handsome, cute but don't have money. Prince BMW: not handsome but are very rich.” So, um… so what do you call a man who is handsome, cute and rich? Why stop there? Let’s add kind, sweet and considerate, too. By the way, I like Jaguar and Lamborghini better. Gotta love those animal logo. ^_^ Working together to get a house or a car is a good concept, ideal even, but that is predicated on the idea that the husband is willing to let his wife work. On the other hand, a woman who can be “bought” is putting herself in a very vulnerable position. I know I do not know every one in Beijing. But I just don’t want to accept that the people of Beijing are like that. Sure, wanting a house is realistic. Shelter is a basic human need after all. But wanting a BMW is not realistic. It is materialistic. Maybe it is an illusion on my part. But I do not want to believe that Beijingers are materialistic. I absolutely refuse to! My Chinese friends who are in Beijing are very modest and humble. I love that about them. I am so glad to know such people. ^_^ |

I am sure that that guy is who many girls are dreaming of. "Working together to get a house or a car is a good concept, ideal even, but that is predicated on the idea that the husband is willing to let his wife work." Unless you are very rich man. If not, better work with your wife to realize your dreams. Some girls are dreaming of marrying a rich man. In that way, they needn't work and just do whatever they like. I don't like them. |
