Hey whats up. I used this translator website to translate "Apology" and it came up with this: 道歉 is that the correct character? is there a shorter character for "Apology"? Danny

My translator gives 歉 (qiàn) = apologize / deficient / to regret 陪持 (péi chí) = apologize 谢罪 (xiè zuì) = to apologize 陪罪 (péi zuì) = to apologize 道歉 (dào qiàn) = to apologize / to make an apology 直点儿 (zhí diaaer) = (apologize etc.) continuously, repeatedly without stop Carlos

道歉 (dào qiàn) I think is more common, but maybe it's a regional thing...

道歉 actually describes the action of offering an apology rather than the apology itself. It is also used in a more formal context. Alternatively, you may want to use 对不起 (dui4 bu4 qi2 or do-ee boo chee) for speech (equivalent to 'sorry'). 陪持 and 直点儿 are very seldom used, in fact I've not heard or seen either one used before. The latter is probably taken from some local dialects.
